What is EFT Tapping and how can it help me?

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Tapping is a holistic healing method that blends elements of cognitive therapy with ancient Chinese acupressure. Often described as “emotional acupuncture without needles,” EFT involves gently tapping on specific meridian points on the face and body while focusing on a particular emotional issue, memory, or belief. This process helps calm the nervous system, reduce emotional intensity, and rewire how the brain responds to stress and negative emotions. Tapping can be used to address a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, trauma, phobias, limiting beliefs, and physical pain, and is valued for its simplicity, accessibility, and empowering, self-regulating effects.

 

What I love most about Tapping is being able to empower my clients as it is an easy technique to learn. Depending on your issue, after our coaching sessions you will be able to use this self-help tool independently. Faced with any stressful situation, you will feel confident to use the techniques and resources, be able to calm the nervous system, reduce your own anxiety, develop calm, inner peace and happiness, without the presence of a therapist.

What happens during a session?

1. We identify an issue to work on together using the Core Causes Client Questionnaire. This questionnaire will be sent out to you after a Discovery Call or referral from another practitioner. We will talk through your answers and identity the biggest fear, anxiety or emotion.


2. We will rate the intensity of this feeling or emotion on a scale of 0-10.


3. We will settle into the session with statements acknowledging the issues or emotion. We send those feelings love, acceptance and are able to sit with them, however uncomfortable.


4. Whilst tapping on the 12 major Tapping Points along the body’s meridians we will draw the emotions to the surface by speaking them aloud. This enables them to be heard and, at the same time, processed (cleared) by stimulating the points on the body. We will tap several rounds in order to let go of the limiting thoughts, trauma or stress. We can then re-route and re-programme the brain with new patterns and consciously choose a new vision. We may also use visualisation, higher self and inner child techniques to create the positive vision.

 

5. At the end of the session we will close with a meditation or breathing exercise and rate the intensity of the issue on the 0-10 scale. If your session is part of a coaching package, we will rate intensity for each emotion or issue and you will be able to follow progress using a Transformation Tracker. Any new emotions or issues which arise during the session will be noted down for a follow-up session or journal exercises.
